Baja Gold Sea Salt is sustainably harvested from an inland lagoon in a pristine estuary of the Sea of Cortez in Baja California, Mexico. This mineral-rich area formed over millions of years through sediment deposits from the Colorado River and is among the most diverse and unspoiled bodies of water on Earth.
Flooded by high tides a few times annually, the lagoon’s water evaporates in extreme desert heat (110–125°F / 43–53°C), leaving behind dense, mineral-rich seawater. Once the water reaches optimal salinity, it’s transferred to evaporation ponds, where it crystallizes, resulting in the high-quality Baja Gold Sea Salt.
